I just have to share these last few photos of bikes which were displayed as an adjunct to the
Cyclepedia exhibition in Portland. At a time when so much coverage and publicity is about speed and competitions ( the Olympics, the Tour de France ) it is great to see that people are considering the future for
ordinary cyclists. Of course these are bespoke, high-end models, but they display real inventiveness and practical solutions, that may in time well feed into the mass market.
There are three models
The Faraday Porteur electric bike
Then a new Urban transport bike from Portland-based Ahearne Cycles
And finally a wonderful Touring Bike, also from Ahearne. Note the brass bell, leather-wrapped 'D' lock, again the hip flask, and the beautiful leather and brass saddle. Such class.
